The track
Currently a Soft 5. Potential for a few showers before race day so it may stay in that range. Expect it to play the usual Doomben way with some advantage to horses racing on-pace or at least with the ability to be within striking distance at the 400m. Rail is out 4 metres.

Looks like there should be a fast tempo. Emerald Kingdom to take the lead with Taksu and King of Hastings keeping the pressure on. Brigantine and Zethus will be midfield as will Ucalledit who has a tough draw to overcome.

#8 Brigantine is a progressive and consistent 4YO that still has improvement to come. JMac has won on him before.
#4 Ucalledit proved he is a class horse winning the Listed Lough Neagh Stks for his third straight win. Big chance.
#5 Zethus was slightly disappointing finishing 5th last start although beaten less than 2 lengths. JKah on who has won on him.
#3 Emerald Kingdom is an 8YO who just keeps on going, takes luck out of the equation.
#1 Taksu has ratings that can win this but they’re all on rain-affected tracks.
#10 Rubamos is an each-way chance but will need to improve off the last couple of efforts.

Betting strategy
Hoping to back BRIGANTINE and fingers crossed we can get better odds on the day. Cummings has good figures bringing horses up to Queensland, especially when their last start was in NSW. Brigantine fits this bill, and has Group 3 placings over 1400m, 1500m and 1600m. I can’t find too many holes in the current market and have the top 6 in market order.
