San Domenico Stakes and Moonee Valley quaddie

San Domenico Stakes

4 The Instructor [$4.80] is one of the few here with some fitness and will forward.

1 Corniche [$5.00] produced a dominant win in the Group 2 Skyline and the end of last prep.

9 Kandinsky Abstract [$5.80] won a recent trial – watch the market and the yard for how tuned-up he is for this.

3 Libertad [$6.00] is a Group 3 winner in the wet from last prep – a nice each-way chance here.

5 Introducing [$7.50] was second in the Rosebud. He’ll fight The Instructor for the lead.

2 Barber [$9.50] won Blue Diamond Prelude first-up last prep.

I don’t think the rest are up to winning this: 11 Moravia [$14], 6 Butch Cassidy [$17], 13 Untouchable Legend [$18], 8 General Salute [$26], 10 Fire Star [$26], 7 Armed Forces [$34].

Betting strategy

Top pick The Instructor

Value bet Introducing

This is a tough betting race and the market currently says that as well, with six horses $10 or under. Many of them starting their spring campaigns also adds a layer of complexity, so yard and late market moves will be very telling. At the moment I am leaning towards the two Waterhouse-Bott runners The Instructor and Introducing, and keeping the outlay reasonably small.

Good luck!

Moonee Valley quaddie

Race 7

2 Normandy Bridge was disappointing last start but has been given a freshen since. Maps to get a good run here and can bounce back.

4 Jimmy The Bear is on the quick back-up, up in distance and has a chance in a small field.

6 Brayden Star put in a nice effort last start. Steps out in trip here which should suit. Can improve again.

8 Future History had two runs back and then was given a short break. Should be fully fit now and can improve off last start. Hard to beat.

Race 8

4 Generation resumes here with a good record both fresh and at the Valley. Looks to have a good chance.

7 Acromantula ran well at its first Victorian run. Only has to hold that form to be competitive here.

8 Omni Man was slightly disappoitning when well found in the market last start. Maps to get a good run, has a chance.

10 Hypothetical raced well in the autumn. Consistent type that can run well here fresh.

Race 9

6 Deny Knowledge races on the pace here which should be an advantage. First-up here and has run well fresh in the past.

7 St Lawrence is racing in terrific form. Suited out in trip here and can run to new peak. The horse to beat.

9 Arran Bay is racing well. Maps to get a good run here and can run well.

11 French Emperor has had excuses at the last couple of starts. Settles on the pace here and Kah goes back on, which are positives.

Race 10

3 Maximillius ran well first-up and can hold that rating here.

4 Najem Suhail ran well fresh and maps to get a good run here. Distance should be no problem.

8 Suparazi raced terrifically last prep. First-up here and can run an honest race if fancied.

11 Gringotts resumes here off a break. A progressive horse who improved every run last prep. Hasn’t found its ceiling yet.
