The track
At this stage it’s a Good 4. What happens from here depends on today (Thursday). The BOM is predicting anywhere between 4-25mm (quite the range) for the Gold Coast, and then overcast conditions for the next 2 days. I am working on a Soft 5 to split the difference.
I think it should play on-speed, but with the ability to come off the fence from the 400m mark.
The speed
Looks to be above average. Spiritualised will push forward from Barrier 11 and Resonator will go forward on the fence, followed by Data Patch and Prime Asset. Daytona and Arentee have tough draws to contend with.
Runner-by-runner
#10 Resonator [$4.00] is bringing up the Sydney form, is on the quick back-up and likes rain affected tracks.
#7 Spiritualised [$5.00] was poor last start… forget that, prior to that his form was okay. He’ll have to improve to beat the Sydney horses however.
#13 West Of Africa [$6.00] is a get-back run-on horse and will always need luck in the run. Watch during the day for the track pattern.
#1 Arentee [$6.50] is a question mark depending on the ground… how will he handle it if its rain affected?
#3 I Am Lethal [$7.00] is a backmarker and coming into this off 42 days. Prefer others, but not out of it totally.
#12 Daytona [$7.50] has a tough draw to contend with, but sitting in the running line might be okay late in the day.
This has a pretty long tail on it, I don’t think the rest have much of a chance: 5 Mobstar [$23], 2 Lucky Exchange [$34], 8 Pentito [$41], 9 Charlies Case [$41], 6 Prime Asset [$46], 11 Wealthy Investor [$46], 4 Ready For Anything [$61], 15 Data Patch [$71], 14 Oakfield Triumph [$81] .
Betting strategy
Two horse play Resonator, Daytona
I am not much different to the market on this one – I will be favouring the two Sydney horses in Resonator and Daytona over the horses bringing in Queensland form. I’ll be backing them both and hoping for a result. Good luck!
