NFL ROUND 18 SNF PREVIEW

Jacksonville Jaguars v Tennessee Titans

Jacksonville Jaguars (8-8) v Tennessee Titans (7-9)

It’s a winner-take-all clash when the Tennesee Titans travel to Jacksonville to face the Jaguars for a chance to win their third consecutive AFC South title.

The Jaguars have only made the playoffs four times this century and not since 2014. If they do make it through the weak AFC South division this season they’ll likely face the Ravens, Chargers or Bengals.

The Jaguars took care of business last week against the terrible Texans to record their fourth straight win. Forcing turnovers has been key for the Jaguars defence, especially recently. On the other side of the ball their almost 5 yards-per-carry perfectly complements the strong quarterback play of Trevor Lawrence.

Tennessee was 7-3 after 10 games but have dropped six straight games.

Regular Titans QB Ryan Tannehill is out for the season and Malik Willis has been poor, so Josh Dobbs has become their preferred option to get them to the playoffs. He was only signed from the Detroit Lions’ practice squad just over two weeks ago. He was inconsistent at times in his first career start but did make some solid throws despite getting pressured in the pocket.

“There was some good decision-making and he was decisive,” said Titans coach Mike Vrabel. “He did a good job progressing through when we gave him some time. He gives us the best chance to win right now.”

They want Dobbs to be good enough to round out an offence featuring an almost unstoppable running back. Derrick Henry will be used heavily but he can’t do everything for the Titans.

The Jaguars defence is strong and takes on an inexperienced and lowly-rated quarterback. Their offence ranks 10th in both passing and rushing so their all-round game should be too strong for the Titans.

Take the Jags at home to make it five wins in a row to claim the division title.
